Larry Mancini Bio
Larry Mancini is guitarist, singer and songwriter from the Boston area. A multifaceted musician, Larry is also a music producer, music teacher and audio engineer. A veteran of the Boston and New England music scene, he has been playing rock, folk, jazz, jam and Grateful Dead music for many years.
Larry currently performs with All Good, Not Quite Dead Yet, The Lovelights, Uncle Johnny's Band, Dire Wolf, and Ol' Brown Shoe.
From 2006 to 2009 Larry created and led the independent record label, KindVibe Music. Kindvibe released the album "The Boston Jam Party" in 2007. The album features twenty-four of New England's talented jam musicians, playing jam band classics, as well as new original compositions.
From 1990 to 1999, Larry performed with the legendary Boston based jam band, Slipknot! (Now known as "The Knot".) During this time, Slipknot! played many shows, performing at such venues as The Paradise, The Somerville Theater, The Palladium and Harper's Ferry. In 1997 Slipnot! released the album, "Slip Into Somewhere" which features three of Larry's compositions, "Let's Go", "Prison Walls" and "The Clouds are Spinning".
Larry credits artists like the Grateful Dead and early Allman Brothers Band as key influences, that helped shaped his style and approach. Larry's song writing draws influence from those groups, as well as other artists such as The Beatles, Paul Simon, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Jmmy Clliff, Jimmy Buffet and Phish, to name a few - ha!
When writing songs, Larry often asks, is this a song he could imagine members of the Grateful Dead covering? If yes, then the song may have the right vibe!
In some of his early bands, Larry was lucky to play with fellow musicians, that have gone on to become blues heavyweights, Dave Keyes (Better Smials) and Ed Sheer (The Silver Lining Band)
Larry has a Music Education degree from the University of Massachusetts.
